Just wanted to say that Mr. Oliver Reed's performance is one of the reasons I love watching the movie Gladiator. It was unquestionably a role he was born to play. Thanks Ollie. And rest in peace.
Best Wishes,

I live in Australia and have been a big fan of Oliver Reed since I was
15 when I went to the cinema to see the movie 'Tommy' and I fell
instantly in love with him. I have watched quite a number of his
movies since then, with great adoration and excitement. I just love
your website as it is filled with so many fascinating articles,
information and wonderful pictures and I have thoroughly enjoyed all
the time I have spent here. It's the best website dedicated
completely to the late great Oliver Reed and I hope that many more
people get the same amount of pleasure from it as I have gotten. I am
currently in the process of buying DVDs of my favourite Oliver Reed
movies and am looking forward to receiving them. He's my hero!

How lucky we are!
Can i just say how lucky we all are to have such a
dedicated and informative site as yours, you clearly
have great respect for Oliver.
I have found the articles and reviews enlightening,
the rough with the smooth, good memories and bad, they
are all here for us to read, there is an honesty in
the content that I am sure Oliver would have approved
of!
I know of no other collection outside the Fan Club
that is so comprehensive.
A very big thank you from all of us who visit this
remarkable site, long may it reign!

Oliver Reed was a great actor and a lit bit of Joker in between. In 1965 or there about's, I as a bit player had the opportunity to get know Oliver on and off the set when he starred with Rita Tushingham in the Movie The Trap shot in West Vancouver, B.C. Canada. A nice guy , a person who enjoyed a drink or so, but also someone who very talented and genuine. Warren Raines British Columbia, Canada |

Ten years on and we still talk about the great actor that Oliver was. (The Devils being his best) I was lucky to work with him a few times and there's no one took over his mantle yet. The King is Dead.....Long live the King... Aitch, |

This site is a fitting tribute to a man who had just as much presence off-screen as on.
My first encounter with him was in 1967, when as a pupil at Highgate school in London, some of us played 'extras' in his film 'I'll Never Forget Whatisname'. And still can't forget one of his co-stars Carol White in the gym..a schoolboys dream! Fast-forward many years and I am living on the island of Guernsey. This sleepy island woke up one day when Ollie moved in to the brick red house behind the Houmet Tavern..complemented with a life-size replica of a rhino in the garden and door knocker in the shape of his d**k. Didn't ever find out if that item was a life-size replica! Guernsey came alive with his antics..some fully clothed, some not. One of his drinking buddies was a character by the name of Maurice Kirk aka The Flying Vet. As one of his customers, I found his brilliance as a vet increased with the alcohol level, so it was a double whammy to the local authorities who took a less than enthusiastic view of the duo. The island lost its sparkle when they both moved out, Ollie to Ireland, and Maurice to the mainland UK. And the world lost one of its sons of the earth with the death of Oliver Reed. But always remembered... Rolf |

A group of nine revellers flew to MALTA to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the great mans early demise. We arrived on Friday for a warm up session, then it was off to Valletta in search of "The PUB" early the next morning. On arrival about 9.50am we found the establishment closed, so we stood round posing for photographs (see attached). Whilst doing this the landlord opened the door and said he'd be open in ten minutes.
we were the first in the pub and began to take photographs of the memorabilia inside and all the tributes written on the walls upstairs before settling down for a session. The PUB was relatively quite other than us only a handful of people drifted in and out. Lunchtime approached and the landlords wife brought out some tuna sandwiches which were well received. As the time approached to toast the great man the landlord passed out 9 free tots of Navy rum to do so. At 2.30pm we raised our glasses and paid homage to our fallen hero before downing the rum in one. During the day we watched bits of the Ollie READ documentary and shared stories about the great man. At the close of the afternoon we all signed an Ollie Reed T-shirt to be placed on the wall to commemorate the special occasion. We also put our names at the top of the stairs so all that go to "The PUB" will know who was at the 10th anniversary party. We had a wonderful time which was made better by the hospitality of the landlord and his wife. The landlord was thinking of changing the name of the establishment. Hopefully, we have persuaded him not to.
I'm sure Ollie would have approved.

Oliver Reed the greatest I think it a sin that Ollie never got the recognition he richly deserved, as an actor he was without equal whenever he played a part/role he made it his own. Ollie could wipe the floor with the so called greats who got their knighthoods/O.B.E's etc. My personal favorites where the Musketeers movies, but to tell the truth I never saw Ollie give a bad performance in anything he did. My favorite recollection was some guy who was a journalist but had been offered a part in the movie "water" starring Michael Caine, the journalist went along to Ollie for pointers on acting, he had already been to RADA, he read his lines to Ollie who sat and listened then asked "why are you shouting?" "you've been to RADA haven't you?" Ollie then tried to give advice but the guy kept pursing his lips when reading his lines and Ollie asked "what are you doing with your lips, do want to kiss me boy?" at this the journalist took to having a fit of the giggles and Ollie got so annoyed he threw the guy out with a "go on get out, piss off" and shut the door Ollie turned around and saw the guys cameraman was still in his house. I did a search on Facebook for like minded people who have set up pages dedicated to the great man but much to my sadness all they want to do is relive his hell raising and epic drinking binges, not a single one just pays homage to probably the greatest actor these shores ever produced. So I was glad to come across this site that recalls the great man for what he did best presenting a larger than life image on the screen and a man cheated out of honors' that he richly deserved. So by the powers vested in me I say "arise Sir Oliver Reed" here's to you, your likes will never be seen again. P.A. Challoner |

New fan Recently I watched a movie (The Hunting Party) and instantly for some strange reason was mesmorized by Oliver Reed...and that NEVER happens to me. Out of curiosity I rented a couple movies of his (Women in Love and The Revolver) and now I can't get enough of this guy!! I was SO upset to find out that he had passed away!! I've read all about him and his "bad ways"...but you know what? He was a human being with emotions just dealing with everyday life in the only way he knew how. In my eyes he was a talented, honest and straightforward man...wish more men were like that!!! I cannot believe that I had never heard about him before, and am more shocked that he never won any awards!!! I've got two more movies of his on the way to me in the mail...can't wait!! Diane USA (New Hampshire) P.S. Love your website!!! And tell that pub-owner he'd better NOT change the name of the pub!! |
